Approximately 3 hours north west of Seattle (including the ferry ride **make sure you make a reservation)
Theme Song of The Day: She’s Got You- Patsy Cline
Retro cowboy music from the 1950s came in over the local radio station as we drove around the island. It was the perfect fit, as old farms surrounded by Madrone and Hemlocks blew by our windows.
If you take the time to come out this way, the drive is worth it. The center of town near East Sound is full of eclectic shops and restaurants. They even have a bookstore with a coffee shop in back (killer espresso, which can be helpful after an early morning drive and ferry ride).
Moran State Park deserves at least an hour of your time. We drove to the top of Mount Constitution to take in panoramic views of The Sound. If you want a killer photograph, this is the spot to be. Lower down at an overlook with enough room for only a car or two, Mike led me down a small path, where I almost forgot I was still in The States. It had me dreaming of Scotland.
